When a documentary has already earned critical recognition, the challenge is no longer introducing the story — it's amplifying its impact for a global audience.
For Lives Not Grades, my role focused on reimagining the existing promotional trailer for the international marketplace, transforming it into a more emotionally engaging and commercially effective sales tool. The editorial objective was to increase narrative momentum, strengthen dramatic progression and reinforce the inspirational message at the heart of the documentary while preserving the authenticity of the original production.
The adaptation involved a complete restructuring of the trailer's pacing together with the redesign of its graphic language. New title treatments, editorial graphics and award callouts were integrated throughout the piece, incorporating the documentary's Emmy Award recognition and other key accolades to reinforce its credibility and maximize its appeal to international distributors and broadcasters.
The result was a more dynamic, visually refined and emotionally resonant promotional asset specifically designed to support worldwide sales and distribution.
